The Spotted Marsh Frog is a commonly found frog in the wet areas and still water of farms dams, swamps, ponds, flooded grasslands and paddocks across Victoria. It is not commonly seen in this district. In dry times it shelters under rocks and fallen timber and can be the first frog to move into a new habitat. Its eggs can be seen in a floating, frothy white mass from August to May. Spotted Marsh Frogs can take between eight weeks to eight months to metamorphose. At times its spots can be a vibrant emerald green colour.

Call: ‘click’ or ‘plock’ (heard for most of the year)

Size: Males 30mm, Females: 47mm
